2024 RECIPIENT—EVELYN ZABO

The Junior League of Seattle is pleased to announce that Evelyn Zabo has been selected as the 2024-25 recipient of its prestigious Dorothy Stimson Bullitt Community Service Award. This award recognizes a member who has made significant community contributions through exemplary, sustained volunteer service and will be presented to Evelyn at this year’s May Celebration on Tuesday, May 20.

Simply put, Evelyn blazes trails while bringing others right alongside her. As a pioneering “woman in tech”, Evelyn has successfully integrated her professional and volunteer experience in her unwavering dedication to meaningful causes. Described by her peers as “warm, approachable, and always mentoring,” Evelyn is known as a transformational leader who can not only see the vision and set the strategy but also inspire a team to achieve success.

Her infectious energy and genuine sense of joy and camaraderie has been reflected in her Board and volunteer work with countless arts organizations, including Pacific Northwest Ballet, International Ballet, PONCHO, Seattle Opera, and USA Artistic Swimming. In addition to supporting the arts, Evelyn has been instrumental in working with the American Red Cross and United Way of King County in making communities safer. She also supports mentoring and equitable access for students, co-founding Seattle University Entrepreneurial Board’s eCommerce and IS Board, and supporting the University of Eau Claire’s Information Systems Advisory Board and Angel Fund Board. Professionally, Evelyn has acted as Lead or Mentor in Women in Tech groups at Accenture and Slalom, and was a founding member of Women In Cloud at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Joining the Junior League of Seattle in 1994, Evelyn took full advantage of the leadership opportunities offered to members and grew to become a respected mentor to many. As an Active, she served as Chair for numerous committees, ultimately joining the Board of Directors, where she led the League through adoption of a new governance model. As 2004-05 JLS President, Evelyn raised the profile of the organization not only locally, but with national recognition of the Celebrate the Rain cookbook. Her Junior League career continued with service on the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) Board, positions on Sustainer Council, and as a featured speaker at JLS’ Women With Impact.
